Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations, the Senior Associate Director or Associate Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations participates in a comprehensive program for corporate and foundation fundraising requiring positive, productive and ongoing interaction with faculty, senior administration, trustee volunteers and major donor prospects. Specific responsibilities include identification of prospects based on extensive analysis using written and on-line research resources; participation in the cultivation and stewarding of corporate and foundation donors of all levels; involvement in the direct solicitation of corporations and foundations; developing and drafting major proposals for senior administration and volunteers and other assignments, as necessary.

This position requires a Bachelors degree, a graduate degree is preferred, and to be eligible for consideration for the Senior Associate Director a candidate must show evidence of leadership, self-direction, initiative and problem solving ability and have had a minimum of five years of professional experience successfully managing a major corporate and/or foundation prospect portfolio, preferably at an institution of higher education or a hospital; the minimum requirements to be considered for the Associate Director position are  three to five years professional level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising, preferably at an institution of higher education or a hospital.  A combination of corporate, foundation, or organizational fundraising and other directly transferable experience from such fields as government grant seeking or corporate philanthropy will be considered for all levels.  Irrespective of the job level, the position requires excellent interpersonal skills; a demonstrated ability to compose strong, clearly written material, including general correspondence and major proposals that articulate funding priorities.  In addition, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to speak persuasively concerning higher education; a working knowledge of research resources for corporation and foundation fundraising; and, a familiarity with Windows PCs and Microsoft Office suite.  Preference will be given to those who have the skills and experience necessary for the Senior Associate Director position.  To be successful, must be a mature team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.  A commitment to Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College are critical.
