Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Stewardship & Donor Engagement, the Senior Writer is responsible for the complete gift acknowledgement protocol for Boston College’s President and the Senior Vice President and Vice President for University Advancement (UA), including drafting gift acknowledgment letters, submitting them for approval and producing final copies for signature. In addition to acknowledgments, the incumbent will also draft other correspondence from the President relating to University Advancement initiatives.
 
The Senior Writer is also responsible for creating reports and/or monitoring stewardship carried out by Boston College’s centers and institutes, many of which were funded by the University’s largest donors. Lastly, this individual will proofread reports to BC’s largest donors.
 
These actions result in timely and appropriate recognition of University donors, and ensure that we are communicating the impact of investments in Boston College in a meaningful and professional manner.

Requirements

This position requires a minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in writing, communications or donor relations, preferably in a large or complex institution, or the equivalent level of experience in other non-profit or for-profit environments. The incumbent must be capable of managing simultaneous, high-level projects and collaborating and communicating well. A high level of attention to detail is also needed, as is embracing both the writing/editing and the project management components of the position.  Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.  An appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College is critical.
