Job Description

The Assistant/Associate Director, Leadership Giving reports to the Director of Annual and Leadership Giving and is responsible for identifying, soliciting, and stewarding cash gifts of $10,000 or more and multi-year commitments of $50,000 or more from Boston College alumni, parents and friends.  The Assistant/Associate Director manages a portfolio of prospects, many of whom will be graduates of the Boston College Law School.  The Assistant/Associate Director is expected to meet specific goals for solicitations and new commitments to be successful. These goals will be met through phone, virtual and in-person meetings ranging from 150 – 175 meetings annually.  The Assistant/Associate Director communicates effectively by phone, email, and written correspondence to secure meetings, provide updates, and to send solicitation proposals.  They work collaboratively with peers in other fundraising areas including gift planning, Athletics Development, school development and organizational giving to maximize fundraising productivity.  In addition, the Assistant/Associate Director works with the Director to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase annual cash giving through the solicitation, recognition and stewardship of annual leadership donors in the Boston College Law School.  The Assistant/Associate Director assists in the functional supervision of one development assistant who reports to the Director of Annual and Leadership Giving.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:
Assistant Director: minimum 1-3 years of fundraising or directly related experience: $68,760 - $85,950
Associate Director, minimum 3-5 years of fundraising or directly related experience: $77,760 - $97,200


This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of professional level frontline fundraising experience for the Assistant Director level, and 3-5 years at the Associate Director level.  A proven record of soliciting and closing annual cash gifts of $10,000-$25,000 at the Assistant Director level and $25,000 or more at the Associate Director level, preferably in a higher education environment, is required.  Determination of job level and compensation will be commensurate with experience.  Travel and some evenings and weekend work is required to be successful.  A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required.  A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is expected.  Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google mail (Gmail), MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is expected.
