Job Description

The Assistant or Associate Director of Annual Giving reports to the Senior Associate Director of Annual Giving and is responsible for increasing annual gifts from undergraduate alumni to Boston College through personal outreach and also collaboratively across University Advancement. With an emphasis on donor retention and relationship building, the Assistant/Associate Director works with the Senior Associate Director to develop and implement a strategy to increase annual cash giving through solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of annual leadership donors. With a focus on increasing annual, unrestricted, current use cash, responsibilities include identifying, soliciting, and stewarding leadership-level alumni prospects and donors. The Assistant/Associate Director writes effective solicitation letters and works collaboratively with colleagues in other areas including alumni relations, gift planning, athletics development, school development, leadership giving and major giving to maximize fundraising productivity. The Assistant or Associate Director is expected to work weekends as needed, travel locally and regionally to solicit alumni in the assigned region.


Hiring Range: Salary commensurate with relevant experience:
Assistant Director: 1-2 years of experience $51,360 - $64,200
First Level Associate Director: 2-3 years of professional level experience $56,720 - $70,900

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and, for the Assistant Director position, a minimum of 1-2 years of fundraising experience or a combination of some fundraising and other directly related experience, with demonstrated ability to close gifts of $1,000 to $10,000 or more. The Associate Director position requires a minimum of 2-3 years professional level fundraising experience with a proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of $10,000 or more with a focus on closing gifts of $10,000 to $25,000 with proven leadership and organizational skills. Both the Assistant and the Associate Director are required to demonstrate consistent and highly professional behavior, have excellent spoken, written and interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition in particular. Travel, evening, and weekend work is required to fulfill responsibilities. A valid driver’s license is required. Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google applications and the MS Office suite is also expected. Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.
