Job Description

The role of the Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director is to work independently and as a member of a team within the Office of Undergraduate Admission with a goal of enrolling the most competitive and diverse first-year class possible. The annual cycle of the admission and enrollment process has the Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director performing and working in a variety of functions throughout the year. The Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director of Admission is responsible to the Director of Admission.

Essential Responsibilities: 

Manage assigned territory through outreach to high schools, prospective students/families, and alumni. Outreach includes seasonal travel to approximately 60 high schools within an assigned recruitment territory to represent the University to prospective students and counselors. Outreach may also require speaking at evening programs, meetings with alumni, leading admission based workshops, and attending professional conferences and college fairs.

  • Review applications for admission. Will read approximately 1,600 applications between November 1 and mid-March each year. This will involve working nights and weekends, as necessary. During this time, the Assistant/Senior Assistant/Associate Director will review each application, make an admission decision, and then process the application according to the decision. While decisions are confidential, will be responsible for communicating with counselors, students, and family members who call or email to request more information on why a certain decision has been made.
  • Conduct information sessions both on and off campus. Assist in the general service of all guests visiting Boston College.
  • Experience with recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented populations extremely beneficial.
  • Experience with transfer admission desired.
  • Additional job-related duties within the Office of Undergraduate Admission to include phone coverage, open house programs, meeting/committees, telethons, mentoring, interviews, and as assigned.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Associate Director, 7+ years of professional admission experience

Hiring Range: $61,400-$76,750                       

Senior Assistant Director5-7 years of professional admission experience

Hiring Range: $55,600-$69,500                      

Assistant Director3-5 years of professional admission experience

Hiring Range: $50,360-$62,950                      

Assistant Director1-3 years of professional admission experience

Hiring Range: $45,640-$57,050  


At a minimum, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Successful candidate should also possess:
  • An enthusiasm for representing Boston College to prospective students, families, and guidance/college counselors.
  • At least two years of admission experience or comparable work experience in higher education or another industry (preferred).
  • Enthusiasm for representing Boston College to prospective students, families, and guidance/college counselors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate Boston College's distinctive mission as a Catholic, Jesuit university.
  • Commitment to enrolling and retaining a diverse student population and an ability to interact with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills, with particular skills in writing and speaking.
