Job Description

As such the following should be considered contractual language for mutual agreement.   

Workweek - The workweek for this position will consist of four (4) consecutive days of ten (10) hours each followed by three (3) consecutive days off. Individuals will be eligible for a 20 minutes morning break and a 15 minute break in the afternoon.  University will allow an additional 10 minute break towards the existing Check cash cashing article within the contract.  

Overtime - Time and one-half the regular hourly rate for this position will be paid for all hours worked in excess of ten (10) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week.

Holidays – This position will receive the same number of hours of holiday pay during the year that other union employees receive. That is, fourteen 8 hour days, for a total of 112 holiday hours per year. For each holiday, the person will receive 8 hours holiday pay, that could be supplemented with 2 hours vacation to receive a full 10 hour day off, or they could deduct 10 hours from the holiday bank of hours. This bank cannot exceed minus 8 holiday hours at any time. If the employee were to leave, any negative holiday hours would be deducted from vacation time. 



*Under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor, or other designated personnel, perform skilled journeyman level work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of refrigeration, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and their controls

*Minimum of five year's recent full-time experience as a Massachusetts Journeyman HVAC Mechanic working for a licensed contractor, or maintenance organization

*High school diploma

*Massachusetts Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic's, Sheet Metal License, EPA Recovery License and Oil Burner Mechanic's license

*Proficient knowledge and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and Refrigeration systems and controls.

*Must be able to read and understand plans, blueprints, and schematics related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.

*Demonstrated ability to work independently

*Ability to work from written or verbal instructions

*D.D.C controls troubleshooting and repair skills required

*Skills in the use of equipment and tools used in the trade

*Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.


*Johnson Controls Metasys experience considered a plus
