Job Description

The Sr./Associate Business Systems Analyst reports to the Associate Director of Systems Management and Data Analysis.  The Sr./Associate Business Systems Analyst will analyze, document, test and support all database applications and reporting tools for the University Advancement Office.  The Sr./Associate Business Systems Analyst responsible for writing and defining business functional requirements to support a robust reporting environment.  S/he will work closely with end users to gather requirements as well as work with technical developers to communicate requirements and test solutions. S/he will be responsible for creating and executing end user test plans and user documentation of solution.  S/he will work with the reporting team to manage ad-hoc reporting requests from University Advancement members as well as occasionally train and assign work to student employees.

1. Documentation:  Effectively communicates detailed work and information to others.  Develops ability to define needs and recommend solutions that deliver value to University Advancement.  Analyzes and documents business processes and systems.  Documents reports and applications by creating, maintaining, and sharing functional specification documents.
2. Testing:  Develops and executes testing plan for reports.  Manages a checklist for project development.
3. Reporting: Support the annual standard production and ad-hoc reporting needs for fundraising.  Builds/manages a standard report library based on continual analysis of user data requests.  Prioritize reports based on how to best improve fundraising goals.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Senior Level: minimum 5-7 years’ experience: $72,900 - $91,150

Non-Senior Level: minimum 3 years’ experience: $64,500 - $80,600

Associate Level:  minimum 0-3 years’ experience: $55,600 - $69,500



Requirements

Senior Level: A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s preferred with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of application development and financial reporting experience with large development and alumni data processing systems, preferably in an institution of higher education in a campaign environment.

Non- Senior Level: A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s preferred with a minimum of 3 years of application development and financial reporting experience with large development and alumni data processing systems, preferably in an institution of higher education in a campaign environment.

Associate Level: A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s preferred with a minimum of 0-3 years of application development and financial reporting experience with large development and alumni data processing systems, preferably in an institution of higher education in a campaign environment.

This position also requires technical and operational support skills with expert knowledge of development and alumni data processing systems to include the following competencies:

o Must have expert knowledge of development and alumni data processing systems
o Experience in developing reports using Business Intelligence tools:
 SSRS
 Crystal Reports
 Oracle ApEx
 Microsoft Tools (Excel, Access)
 QlikTech (View/Sense)
o Experience in developing and querying relational databases
o Ability to develop complex queries using various programming languages including SQL and PL/SQL
o Strong background in analysis, design, development, testing and support of advancement information systems with emphasis on data quality control
o Excellent analytical skills for report specification development 
o Ability to document code and systems according to established standards
o Broad knowledge of industry best practices in data reporting and data modeling
o Blackbaud CRM 

Additionally, must have good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, an aptitude for working with numerical data, an ability to work independently with careful attention to details, a respect for the confidentiality of donor records as well as a customer service focus. To be successful, must be able to balance priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced office environment and consist of Blackbaud CRM experience.  Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.
