Job Description

The Assistant / Associate Director, Leadership Giving reports to the Director of Leadership Giving and is responsible for the solicitation of Boston College alumni and parents capable of annual leadership gifts greater than $10,000 up to $100,000.  Primary focus will be closing current-use gifts at the $10,000 through $100,000 level.  The Assistant / Associate Director manages a portfolio of 200 or more regional donors and prospects and is expected to meet specific goals for contacts and completed solicitations.  The Assistant / Associate Director writes effective solicitation letters and proposals and works collaboratively with peers in other fundraising areas including gift planning, athletics development, school development and organizational giving to maximize fundraising productivity.  In addition, the Assistant / Associate Director works with the Director to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to increase annual cash giving through the solicitation, recognition and stewardship of annual leadership donors.  Limited program work for the 1863 Society and the Pops on the Heights Scholarship Gala will be also required.  The Assistant / Associate Director assists in the functional supervision of one development assistant who reports to the Director of Leadership Giving.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Assist Director, minimum 1-3 years of fundraising or directly related experience:  $66,100-$82,600

Assoc Director, minimum 3-5 years of fundraising or directly related experience:  $74,750-$93,450



This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1-3 years of professional level frontline fundraising experience for the Assistant Director level and 3-5 years at the Associate Director level.  A proven record of soliciting and closing annual cash gifts of $25,000 or more, preferably in a high education environment, is required.  Determination of job level and compensation will be commensurate with experience.  Travel and some evenings and weekend work is required to be successful.  A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is required.  A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is expected.  Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google mail (Gmail), MSWord, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is expected.  To be successful, must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.  An appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and a commitment to the goals and values of Boston College are critical.
