Job Description

Reports to the General Manager and provides daily management of all maintenance services at the Connors Retreat and Conference Center in Dover, MA.  Also, independently assesses and evaluates general building, landscape and snow removal, utility and security needs, and makes and completes any minor repairs, as needed.  In addition, coordinates room set ups for all scheduled events and programs, including timely moving, staging and operation of equipment and furnishings (tables, chairs, podiums, sound
systems, etc.).  Also consults with the Facilities Director of Support Services and University Properties to coordinate and manage all trade, life safety and support services necessary to operate the property.

Hiring Range: $46,750 - $58,450; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

Experience in building maintenance and/or construction is required.  Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.  Licenses and certificates in any building trade, including operating engineer, is advantageous.  Knowledge of conference, retreat or hotel operations would be helpful; and experience working with and/or supporting
conference and/or retreat work is a plus. Gardening and landscaping experience is preferred.  The position requires an independent, self-starter who can work with limited direct supervision, and is well organized and detail oriented.  Also required is the ability to plan and execute in a timely manner.  A positive customer service attitude and ability to relate to and work with various constituencies within a higher education environment is essential.

· High school diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor’s degree would be an asset. 
· Computer skills with proficiency in excel and word is preferred.
· Must have a reliable vehicle and valid Massachusetts driver’s license to pick-up items, etc. and assist with minor snowplowing when guests are on-site.
· Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs. to manage deliveries, and move furnishings, equipment, and supplies.
· On call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to emergency situations, as needed.  Overnight and weekend coverage may be required, especially when groups are in residence, to handle any property emergencies that may arise.
