Job Description

The Assistant or Associate Director of Annual Giving, Classes reports to the Director of Annual Giving & Volunteer Engagement and is responsible for the implementation and oversight of programs to enhance volunteer engagement and promote increased giving from undergraduate alumni and students to Boston College. The Assistant or Associate director will work closely with current undergraduate classes to secure gifts through a student philanthropy program.  In addition, responsibilities could also include working with class volunteers both during and outside of reunion years to annual gifts with an emphasis on growing the number of annual cash gifts of $1,000 or more. This work could include staffing two or more reunion Class Gift campaigns and several non-reunion classes. The Assistant or Associate Director is expected to travel locally and regionally to solicit alumni in the assigned classes.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and, for the Assistant Director position, a minimum of 1-2 years of fundraising experience or a combination of some fundraising and other directly related experience. The Associate Director position requires a minimum of 2-3 years professional level fundraising experience with a proven record of soliciting and closing gifts of $10,000 or more with a focus on closing gifts of $10,000 to $25,000 with proven leadership and organizational skills. A higher level Associate Director position requires a minimum of 3-4 years of professional level fundraising experience soliciting gifts of $10,000 - $25,000 with a focus on successfully soliciting and closing gifts of $10,000 to $25,000 with proven leadership and organizational skills, preferably in a higher education campaign environment or in comparable settings that have afforded increasing responsibility with annual giving programs and experience working directly with volunteers and donors. Both the Assistant and the Associate Director are required to have excellent spoken, written and interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition in particular. Travel, evening, and weekend work is required to fulfill responsibilities. A valid driver’s license is required. Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google applications and the MS Office suite is also expected. To be successful, must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education. An appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College are critical.
