The Regional Director, Major Giving, reports to the Associate Vice President, Major Giving and is responsible for providing leadership to Boston College’s major gift fundraising efforts in one of four geographic regions. The Director will oversee a team of up to five major gift fundraising professionals whose sole responsibility is to advance philanthropic relationships with alumni and parent prospects rated $250,000 to $4,900,000 - team members work out of the Boston College University Advancement office. The Director will also manage a portfolio of 50-75 major gift prospects.
In collaboration with the AVP, Major Giving, the Director will develop a comprehensive regional engagement and cultivation strategy that includes the deployment of University Leadership to grow major gift commitments. Additional responsibilities include the oversight and provision of individual solicitation strategies including the utilization of University Leadership and key volunteers when appropriate; ensuring that prospects are moving through the donor engagement process at pace; holding fundraisers accountable to performance metrics; and proactively engaging in the professional development of team members. Critical to the success of the Director will be the ability to collaborate with other fundraising units including Athletic Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, and School Development. Productivity will be measured through regional growth of philanthropic commitments at the major gift band.

This position requires a proven track record of soliciting and closing six- and seven-figure gifts. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience as a performance-driven gift officer within higher education or another nonprofit organization.
Experience mentoring high-performing team members; developing successful programs; and superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills - with specific application to compelling development communications - are required. In addition, an understanding and appreciation of Boston College’s Jesuit, Catholic mission is a must.Closing Statement
