Job Description

The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives will report to the Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations and work directly with a team of twenty-seven alumni relations professionals and also with over a hundred University Advancement professionals.  S/he will interact regularly with major stakeholders including members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, university trustees, senior leadership, alumni volunteer leaders, students, parents and friends as well as university leadership to develop collaborative opportunities to advance the mission of Boston College. 

The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives supports the work of the AVP as it pertains to strategy development and implementation to align with best practices in the profession.  The Project Manager will work to cultivate a culture of team engagement in the strategic planning and direction of the Alumni affinities, chapters and classes programs. The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives will identify, research, develop and present to the alumni relations leadership team new initiatives that advance the goals and objectives of alumni engagement and participation. The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives will provide analysis and recommendations on how to increase alumni engagement and expand programmatic growth opportunities, in a competitive environment, to an increasingly diverse alumni constituency. The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives will collect and research data, and identify and analyze information skillfully. The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives will travel to meet with and learn from other institutions, businesses and non-profits that have a successful track record of building strong engagement and loyalty bonds among its constituents/customers. Opportunities will be designed to impact alumni, parents and friends of Boston College globally.
The Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives works with the AVP new concepts and visions for the future of the Alumni Association.  S/he provides the most current data and industry reporting on alumni engagement initiatives and activities to insure that programs and events are designed and implemented to meet engagement and participation goals.  S/he will work collaboratively with colleagues across University Advancement to inspire and communicate opportunities for engagement that seek to broaden the alumni base. In addition, the Project Manager, Alumni Strategic Initiatives will help to identify and cultivate new relationships with alumni who can serve in volunteer leadership roles which are critical to the ongoing success of the alumni relations program.

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with a Master’s preferred, in addition to a minimum of five years or more of professional alumni relations, fundraising, business or non-profit related experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities, preferably at an institution of higher education; or, an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience in a leadership role.  Travel, evening and weekend work is part of this positon.  

Preference will be given to those who have the skills and experience necessary.
