Job Description

The Academic & Student Services Assistant is the first point of contact in the office and is responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, responding to email and web inquiries, and performing other general office management duties. The individual assists with student registration and student payment. The position also provides administrative support to the Assistant Dean of Financial Planning and Operations and Associate Dean of Administration and Finance.

Specific duties include:

Greets visitors in the lobby; answers and directs phone calls; responds to inquiries through department email accounts; responds to web inquiries; maintains a presence on LiveChat and assists LiveChat visitors with questions/issues; manages office supply inventory; updates staff directories; and other office duties as needed.

Registrar and Student Services Functions – Creates new students in UIS; assists with student registration; informs students of payment options; processes student registration payments; and communicates student payment information to Student Service Collections group.

Supports the Assistant Deans and the Associate Dean of Finance & Administration.  Participates in student recruitment activities and special projects as needed.

  • Knowledge of the Boston College software system (UIS, Agora, Canvas, PeopleSoft Financials)
  • Collaborative work style and passionate about the BC and WCAS mission and serving non-traditional and professional education students 


  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous experience working in a customer service environment.
  • Experience working in student services in higher education.
